For the first time in oureleven year history, James River High School NJROTC will send a cadet to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Cadet Lieutenant Commander Ben Doniger will attend the Naval Academy as the class of 2024 and has been looking forward to it ever since he has received his acceptance letter. Ben Doniger is the 2019-2020 Commanding Officer for the James River High School company and is known for the exceptionally high standard he keeps in not only his professional life in NJROTC, but also the high standard he keeps for himself outside of NJROTC. Cadet Lieutenant Commander Ben Doniger will attend a rigorous and challenging seven week program known as “Plebe Summer” which will formally introduce him to the many aspects and challenges of the academy. After the completion of this seven week course filled with physically and mentally demanding tasks, Cadet Doniger will officially be named a “Plebe” or Freshman in the United States Naval Academy.
