Area 5 Championships (March 12th, 2016): Academics, PT and Awards

Saturday, March 12th, was the second day of Area 5 Championships. The unit competed against other top-ten units in a 100-question academic exam followed by a PT competition which consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, an 8×200 relay, and a 16×100 relay. The academic team had a fantastic showing, bringing home a second place academic trophy. For our first time going to Area 5, the unit competed well and we hope to return next year! HOORAH!

Area Manager Inspection (AMI)

On February 9th, 2016 our unit carried out the annual Area Manager Inspection or AMI required for all NJROTC units worldwide. Though the Area 5 Manager, Captain Daniels was unable to inspect us personally this year, Commander Hal Mohler, the Commanding Officer of Navy Recruiting District Richmond and his staff inspected the unit. The inspection consisted of an all-hands uniform/knowledge inspection by naval personnel followed by a ceremonial portion during which ten cadets earned their Exemplary Personal Appearance ribbons and additional cadets were frocked or received their new rank. Commander Mohler and his inspecting staff then proceeded to examine the classroom facilities and were briefed by Company Staff about the state of our unit from a management perspective.
