Honor Guard Home

ATTENTION CURRENT HONOR GUARD MEMBERS: We now have a Remind group for Honor Guard. To join, text the code @hgkljg to 81010.

Honor Guard is an opportunity offered exclusively by JRHS NJROTC to Cadets with outstanding personal appearance and a sense of high honor. Honor Guard Cadets go out each morning prior to school (0700-0715) to raise the colors, recite the pledge of allegiance, and salute the memorial constructed by JRHS NJROTC Alumni Elisha El (Class of 2015) and Ian Burke (Class of 2013) to honor fallen USMC Lance Corporals and JRHS Alumni Karl R. Linn (Class of 2002) and Jourdan L. Grez (Class of 1999). Both Marines were KIA in 2005 during combat operations in Iraq.

Honor Guard Cadets are held to a higher standard than their peers during inspection and for general conduct both in and out of uniform. In addition, prompt attendance to watch assignments is not only expected, but required; too many absences without appropriate steps being taken to find another Cadet to cover an empty wave slot will lead to a Cadet Disciplinary Board. All Honor Guard Cadets will receive a service dress blue uniform, regardless of rank, and one Cadet from each wave will recite the Pledge of Allegiance over the intercom for the morning. Honor Guard selection board is held at the beginning of each academic year. Please check the website or see Honor Guard Commander for additional information.
