JRHS NJROTC is welcoming in the New Year with preparations for Area 5. Through hard work and dedication, we have scored 8th overall in the area. In 2018 our teams will be training their hardest in preparation for the Area 5 championship meets. Hoorah cadets, job well done! To the 2017 NJROTC; bravo zulu; to 2018, keep up the good work!

On March 8th 2015, the NJROTC Company Staff presented the composite picture for the 2013-2014 school year to Principal Ellick. Mr. Ellick has been one of our biggest supporters throughout the years and will continue to be a major part of this unit for years to come.
As of the week of February 23rd, our Chief of Staff, c/LCDR Freddie Shashaty has been awarded the Gilliam Award. The Gilliam Award recognizes the TOP CADET across 57 units based upon class standing, GPA, service to the unit and greater school community and a 750 word essay on the personal influence of the “Sailors Creed” on one’s life. c/LCDR Shastaty will now compete at the national level. The announcement was received by Commander Greenwald through email from the Area 5 manager, Captain Daniels. Congratulations to Chief of Staff on all of his hard work and dedication that he has put in these past 4 years.
This past Saturday, January 31st, our NJROTC drill teams competed at the Princess Anne drill competition. Competing alongside 11 other schools, our drill teams did well working towards Area 5. The teams placed as follows:
Unarmed Basic- 9th place
Unarmed Ex- 5th place
Armed Basic- 9th place
Armed Ex- 10th place
Color Guard- 11th place
Academics- 4th place

This past Saturday, January 10th 2014, the NS1s competed at Nottaway High School. The cadets did such an outstanding job at the competition. They placed 3rd in Unarmed Squad and were so close to placing in all the other areas. Congrats to Cadet Saunders for leading unarmed squad right into 1st place. Bravo Zulu NS1s!

On January 10th, the NS1s will be competing at Nottoway against other NS1 drill teams. Our NS1s have been practicing diligently in preparation for this meet, and the academic team has already taken the academic exam for the meet and scored very well.
