All Company Formation: Fri, 18 March

On Friday, 18 March, the unit held an All-Company Formation. During the formation, Principal Ellick spoke to the Cadets about the unit’s impressive performance at Area 5 Championships and was presented with the Second Place Academic trophy earned at Area. Also featured was a performance by the Unarmed Exhibition team, which preceded several awards, including  the frocking of Cadets Jack Pearcy, Spencer Willett, and Meily Yong to the rank of Cadet Seaman (E-3) and Cadet Daniel Cappiello to Cadet Petty Officer Third Class (E-4). In addition, the Company Staff roster for the 2016-2017 Academic Term was announced. The Cadets of the month for March, 2016 are Cadet PO/3 Daniel Cappiello for the NS1 award and Cadet PO/3 Quinn Lilly for the upperclassman award. HOORAH to all Cadets who received these rewards and the ones listed below:

Area 5 Championships (March 12th, 2016): Academics, PT and Awards

Saturday, March 12th, was the second day of Area 5 Championships. The unit competed against other top-ten units in a 100-question academic exam followed by a PT competition which consisted of push-ups, sit-ups, an 8×200 relay, and a 16×100 relay. The academic team had a fantastic showing, bringing home a second place academic trophy. For our first time going to Area 5, the unit competed well and we hope to return next year! HOORAH!

Area 5 Championships (March 11th, 2016): Drill

Today, March 11th, we competed in our  FIRST EVER Area 5 Championship! This is a two day event and today was the drill day. We competed in the following events: Armed Exhibition, Armed Basic, Unarmed Exhibition, Unarmed Basic, UPI, and Color Guard. We do not know what we placed, but we will find out tomorrow at the end of the competition. Tomorrow we will compete in academics and PT, then followed by awards! HOORAH to everyone who competed!

NS1 Drill Meet

On Saturday, January 9th, a group of first-year cadets competed in the NS1 Drill Meet at Nottoway High School in Nottoway County. The cadets participated in an Academic Exam, Armed Standard drill -led by Cadet Brandau-, Unarmed Standard drill -led by Cadet Keel-, Colorguard, Unarmed Squad drill -led by Cadet Baker-, Uniform Personnel Inspection (UPI) -led by Cadet Willett-, and several new challenge events such as Knowledge, Spit Shine, Uniform Prep, Push-ups, Curl-ups, Flag Folding, and Cadence Call. The cadets placed second in the Knowledge Challenge, third in push-ups, first in overall drill, and third place for the overall meet.

  
  

Knock Off The Rust Drill Meet

On October 17th, the unit hosted our annual “Knock Off The Rust” Drill Meet, the first of the season. The Drill and Academics teams started the season off strong, placing third in Armed Exhibition, second in Academics and Unarmed Standard drill, and first in Color Guard and Unarmed Exhibition. These wins added up to a second place overall position of all who attended. The cadets did a fantastic job both in competition and in running the meet.

  
  

Southern Regional Drill Competition 2015

On Saturday March 21st, NJROTC hosted our 6th annual Southern Regionals. Our drill teams competed against 6 other school and pulling away with 10 trophies. Among those trophies were:

2nd place Situps

1st place Pushups

2nd place Academics

2nd place Unarmed Basic

3rd place Unarmed X

1st place Color Guard

1st place Armed Basic

1st place overall Athletics

1st place overall Drill

and 2nd place overall competition

Special recognition to Cadet Elisha El for receiving the highest score on the UPI team with a 22 out of 25

Cadet El also did 148 pushups during the athletic portion, beating a school record and taking the medal for most male pushups. Cadet Kaitleen Rivera also recieved a medal for most female pushups, with 47.
