Area Manager Inspection, 20 October, 2016

Each year, every NJROTC unit is required to undergo an inspection by a Navy officer to ensure that the Unit is operating as prescribed by NJROTC regulations. This year, we were fortunate enough to be inspected by none other than the Area 5 Manager himself, Captain Jim Daniels. Over the course of the day, Captain Daniels, the other military personnel who assisted with the inspection, and members of the JRHS Administration team and Cadet Parent Organization were briefed by Company Staff on the day-to-day operations of the unit, followed by a unit-wide uniform personnel inspection and a ceremonial pass in review. Several Cadets were awarded ribbons and frocked to new ranks in front of their parents. At the very end of the day, Captain Daniels stuck around to shoot targets with our Air Rifle Team. Below is a comprehensive list of the awards. If you have pictures or video of this event, please send them to our Communications Officer at commsjrhsnjrotc@gmail.com

EoY Banquet and Awards Ceremony, 7 May 2016

The 2015-2016 year for JRHS has come to a close with the End of the Year Banquet, held on 7 May at the Thomas R. Fulghum Conference Center. Although Cadets will still need to persevere through a few more weeks of PT and Academics in order to pass their finals prior to Summer Break, the banquet is the effective end of one year and the beginning of the next. In addition, JRHS Principal and US Army Colonel (ret.) Jeffrey Ellick announced that the unit had earned the prestigious title of Area 5 Distinguished Unit along with a pennant for the unit guidon.

20160507_192841.jpg

Area Manager Inspection (AMI)

On February 9th, 2016 our unit carried out the annual Area Manager Inspection or AMI required for all NJROTC units worldwide. Though the Area 5 Manager, Captain Daniels was unable to inspect us personally this year, Commander Hal Mohler, the Commanding Officer of Navy Recruiting District Richmond and his staff inspected the unit. The inspection consisted of an all-hands uniform/knowledge inspection by naval personnel followed by a ceremonial portion during which ten cadets earned their Exemplary Personal Appearance ribbons and additional cadets were frocked or received their new rank. Commander Mohler and his inspecting staff then proceeded to examine the classroom facilities and were briefed by Company Staff about the state of our unit from a management perspective.

Knock Off The Rust Drill Meet

On October 17th, the unit hosted our annual “Knock Off The Rust” Drill Meet, the first of the season. The Drill and Academics teams started the season off strong, placing third in Armed Exhibition, second in Academics and Unarmed Standard drill, and first in Color Guard and Unarmed Exhibition. These wins added up to a second place overall position of all who attended. The cadets did a fantastic job both in competition and in running the meet.
